Hello! This is Joe! or as the people of silvers glory know me as Rokkkk or "one of the orcs". i am still fairly new to larp i have been to 5 or 6 events but the main thing i have noticed is that there are so many different types, styles and versions of armor. i for one and curious and would like to have some other players input on how to make armor why you used the materials you used and what are the benefits of these materials. for instance i know somebody who made some armor out of 5 gallon buckets and somebody else who refurbished some old dirt bike riding pads. so please help me make the best armor possible by telling me why you did what you did!

Hey Joe! Now, I am not one to craft things myself, over time I have picked up a couple things about making stuff through pure osmosis. First, I am going to link you to a website run by another Heroic member and a friend of mine: www.embercostumes.com/leather.html This guy is a leather master and has some great tutorials on his site teaching about some of the basics and some walk throughs on some of his projects. Some other great armor I have seen made is chain mail which I am told though it is time consuming and arduous it isn't extremely complicated if you follow some of the tutorials you can find online. Here is a good tutorial from start to finish that I found: metalsmithing.wonderhowto.com/how-to/make-chain-mail-armor-from-start-finish-0118499/Now the final piece of armor that I really like is in Nebraska's NPC camp and I think it is perfect for Orcs that I will try to bring out to the game this weekend so you can see it. It was made with a very tough burlap with wooden "scales" sewn in to create rough but sturdy looking armor. Let me know if I can answer any questions.

I finally got around to reading the website article you posted about chainmail, Katherine. That was great! All it takes is a lot of time (especially for a fat fatty like me) and a bit of money. I'm thinking I could do this. Might be $50-$100 for materials, but it's doable. Of course, time to save up my allowance. -Andy
