Where are the rules for additional characters if I want to create a new character build? I hear rumors of rules, but where are they written down? The Heroic website is old and copyrighted 2011. I can't access that anyway.
So if my character dies, do I get to use the build for another character? If I get tired of playing that character, can I use the CP to create a new character to try and have fun with? What are the options?
For the record, I'm not looking to get rid of Bowen anytime soon. He's fun to play. Vallum here is shaping up to be fun as well. He's really just an alt built for Dragon's Hearth that might grow into something more.
(Oops, thought I was saying that as Vallum, but it doesn't really matter.)

Really good questions! It's helpful that you're new, because I have years of "I think it used to be" and "I know we talked about one times". I'm not totally crazy and I did find some thing on the website about build after permanent death, but it's from CORE rules, not from H1 rules: www.heroicit.net/content/core-life-death-and-dying"When a character suffers Permanent Death under Core Life, Death, and Dying (which may only ever happen once per character), the player may create one totally new character with 35% (rounded up) of the Event-Days in the Fundamental Character Log (that are countable under Core Classes, Levels, and Experience Points) of the now Permanently Dead character awarded to the new character as the first line in their Fundamental Character Log (including a specific note that this value originated under, and is tied to, Core Life, Death, and Dying). All campaigns using Core Life, Death, and Dying will recognize these Event-Days as valid, according to the systems for their campaign. Games running Core Life, Death, and Dying will not recognize Event-Days from similar awards made under other rules systems. Note that under Core Rules a “blob” character is specifically considered to have been created at the time the first Event-Day was awarded, and is explicitly prohibited from being considered the "new" character created as a result of the Permanent Death of a character under Core Life, Death, and Dying."
Other than that, not sure if the answers to your questions are written down. Sounds like you've already started researching that homework assignment Andy.

Thank you for finding that. When I clicked on it, it was restricted access. When I tried to create an account, it said that there was a system error and my account could not be created. Whom may I contact to resolve this? Might be a separate thread here.
This is a helpful start, honey. It is also for Core rules, not Heroic One. Also, that looks like lawyer talk, not rules for a game. Maybe that's necessary.
I saw the results of a survey done in the last year or so. 30% of the responders had been playing Heroic for one year or less. That's a significant portion of the player base, and you want to have things clear for them (okay, us) to find and understand.

I think Joe Bearden would be the person to contact about website issues.

The old heroic site is rather bogged down and unused now. Half the time i cant even log in with a account. My opinion would be maybe hit up Sebastian on it if its on H1 core stuff, so he could address it.

Currently in H1 there are no rules about what happens with your CP once a character permanently dies. That was an oversight on my part. More than likely it will follow a similar formula to Core. I'll run some numbers and make sure something gets included in the update.
As for additional characters, the process is as simple as contacting your logistics and telling them you want to start a new character/blob.

Andy you just laid out core and the website itself in a nutshell. Lawyer talk that no one can access.

Sorry for the issues, Andy. We're aware of them, but we haven't been helped by an attack on the site last month. Neither here nor there, but I'm working with Jubei (who handled the survey) and a web developer to lay the foundation for something more current and user friendly. In the meantime, I'd be happy to help you set up an account on the limping remains of the 2011 site or retrieve info you're interested in directly, just let me know. If you've got suggestions for the new iteration, please contact Jubei and/or me.
As far as lawyer talk, Core was written that way on purpose, with the expectation that systems would be translated from them. It's one reason among many that I'm happy that Seb put H1 together for us.

Thanks for the insight, Joe. I'm mainly concerned with keeping my account updated and having a place to send potential new players to check out this game.
The Wix sites look cool and are pretty functional. I don't know if that's a feasible solution for the Heroic main site, but it's a quick way to have a very dynamic (attractive) website.
For the record, I love the story section (under "Introduction"?). The pictures and narrative really gave me a feel for the game, which was cool. In the new version or update of the site, please keep that feature, as I believe it was effective.

Pictures, lots of pictures! I don't know why, but I love to look at pictures of folks LARPing. Videos less so, but pictures really give me a feel for the quality of the game (at least they make me feel like I can learn the quality of the game). Just my observations as someone who is new to this brand of LARP and explores some of the different sites.
The big headings that I think folks need are as follows:
New Players - examples of play - NPL links - FAQ - the different games and such (locations)
Playing the Game - Rules - Procedures - Waivers
Current Players - playing hints (role-playing and building stuff) - link to the forum - links to the game websites - how to spend CP and spend/track HP
Contact Info - emails - regional snail mail?
This stuff is just top of my head thinking. I'll let you know if I think of more stuff. I'm also sure there's a ton that I've left off. The original website had a lot going for it, but navigating it was a little clunky and much of it is behind a login/password. Only stuff that is restricted to players should be behind that. We want new players and returning players to see as much as possible, don't we?
