I am wondering if a making a google based logistics entry form would help enter Productions in an easier view for staff.
My husband is working on side project at the moment to take that idea to the next level, but this sounds like a good midway step between the two.
What do you think Andy??

And as I seemed to have killed the discussion with my reality talking I though I would start the positive discussion as well.
Topics Katherine mentioned: Some areas that effect immersion and could be open discussion:
1. Costumes
2. Sets
3. Staying in-game
4. Out of game phrases/anachronisms

1.Costume Heroic Central had a cool way of addressing this. They had a HUGE donated NPC camp full of vests, colored shirts, belts, pants and the like. This helped new players fit in immediately and have something to wear if they didn't come in ready. They were allowed to use that for a couple events until they could furnish their own gear.
What this idea requires: Goodwill runs and donations to NPC camp for clothing and the like A Props manager who doesn't mind doing a lot of laundry and tote a truck load of clothing to and from site
2. Set A good site that matches your location helps significantly and reduces a lot of needs on this factor. But this is also a donation thing. Or at least players willing to furnish or decorate specific places for Staff. IN another game I played several players picked up locations and they were in charge of the decorations for the SMithy, the temple, the teleportation spot, certain ancestor's homes, and even a hospital. Players bought the props and put them in a labeled tote and brought them to game. If they couldn't make it they tried to get that to another person before the next game, or Plot would provide a reason why the "smithy" wasn't availible for use (Overgrown, ill kept, fire, ect)
What my idea requires: motivation and want for a specific place to look Boss. Donations
6. Rules/Logistics,
As previously mentioned, maybe a google form for easier entry and access for all of logistics in one place. Usually this is on pre-registry forms, sometimes it isn't. But this is something i have noticed a few chapters using.
Also I cut of the turning in of production to the Wednesday before the game so I could have a taping party Thursday night where players could help us pack the truck outside tape components and stuff envelopes with me inside.
What this requires: Pre-game week time donation to staff Propt and timely pre-registration Acceptance that if you don't turn it in early that plot and staff are working the story at game and don't have forever to print you logistics because that is a clunky program ( I would know, my husband designed one and is working on a better one)

Yes, Diana, that's what I've been talking about! I like the idea of the Google Form to help logistics. I've actually been mulling that over for a while. The problem is that I don't know enough about what's going on in Logistics now, so my ideas can't help in as much detail as they could if I knew that stuff. I'm working on it. The big thing is how to bridge the in-person Logistics interaction with the online reporting. It's not an impossible problem, but it will take some figuring, planning, and execution. I'm a Media Specialist, so I can help with that. I also want to make it a system that isn't labor-intensive, so whoever is doing Logistics doesn't get over-burdened or burnt out.
YES, DEADLINES FOR THE PLAYERS SO STAFF CAN PREPARE! We talked about that last night. Say, "All CP expenditures and plot submissions need to be in by ___ date to be considered for the next game." That sets up proper expectations and frees the staff up for proper prep time. I know this all sounds like it's a little off the thread topic, but it's really not. When Logistics is logical and organized, it can flow smoothly and not get in the way of game. Logistics is needed and VERY important, but it's structure and scaffolding for the stuff that is truly immersive about the game.
I love this thread because it's gotten people talking. We're going to have a meeting online tomorrow mostly about new player stuff. I think we can set up some initiatives that can really make a difference soon. Every problem we have needs consideration, solution, and execution. We do that with each problem, one at a time, and we'll take a good thing and make it great.
